UW PREM Research Professor Named ASM Fellow

The American Society for Materials (ASM International) has named PREM professor, Dr. Kumar Sridharan a Fellow of the society. Dr. Sridharan is a distinguished research professor in the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Engineering Physics Department. The honor recognizes Dr. Sridharan’s distinguished contributions in materials science and engineering and develops a broad-based forum for technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the society. He will receive his award in October 2008 at the Materials Science and Technology Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.

As part of the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez PREM, Dr. Sridharan has been collaborating with Prof. O. Marcelo Suárez (PI) for several years working on tribological properties of functionally-graded aluminum matrix composites. A third member of this team has been PREM student Humberto Melgarejo currently pursuing his PhD degree in Materials Science at UW.
